Citywide Land Use Group Meeting
Tuesday, May 27, 7 to 9 p.m.
1900 SW Fourth Avenue, Room 2500B
On May 27, the City of Portland’s Citywide Land Use Group will begin to evaluate the development of a strong public participation process for the foundation of the Comprehensive Land Use Plan draft due out in the next few months.
The core of the evaluation will be to clearly define the difference between disclosure and participation.
Linda Nettekoven and Marty Stockton from the Public Involvement Advisory Council (PIAC) will explain what is currently happening with the Comprehensive Plan goals, the new tools that are being designed, and how the current Comprehensive Plan draft will address public participation issues.
As part of its monitoring role, the Citywide Land Use Group will briefly define what it believes has been missing in several recent and very heated issues. Three neighborhood impact issues that, in the view of the Group, have not had significant public involvement include demolitions, “short-term rentals” and the Regulatory Improvement Code Amendment Project (RICAP).
This meeting is intended to begin an ongoing conversation about these and other issues over the next several months.
